Album Left Alive? Gatherings and Music October 14, 2009 (Updated on: October 31, 2009)

For Phish's upcoming festival in Indio, CA, they will be continuing the Halloween tradition of dressing up their music...by playing another artist's album.  Unlike years past, they are teasing the possible album choices to their fans on their website.  They have lined up some of the most classic of rock albums, along with many more modern (yet still exceptional) albums.  In Halloween spirt, they are [literally] giving the albums the axe (or arrow, knife...etc).

These are the remaining albums at this time, I'm also going to try and keep removing them from this list as they remove them from their website.

Would Love To Hear

These are albums that I feel have a chance at being picked, and I would personally love to hear most.

Rothbury 2009 - Looking Forward Music July 1, 2009
rothbury.jpg

And the excitement approaches!  The Rothbury Festival weekend start in less than 2 days!  Amazing bands, good vibes, and 4th of July fireworks...it just can't get here soon enough.

Below is a list of bands I'm planning on seeing each day (and the days here end at 4am!!!):

Thursday

  • Keller Williams - Gotta love some solo Keller! We've seen him a bunch, and it's a great way to open the weekend up.
  • Lotus - A little jam-tronica to welcome the evening.  Never seen Lotus, but I've heard a bit, should be entertaining.
  • The Disco Biscuits - Great band, quite a large following...still keeping with the electronica based music, they'll be a great end to the short first day.

Friday

<>
  • Damian Marley - Son of Bob Marley...does anything else really need to be said.
  • <><>The String Cheese IncideRead on...

Time Turns Music May 29, 2009

So the boys are totally on with their music, and Trey has developed some lyrics that are as deep as the cavern he as sung about in the past.  Here is the last part of their song, Time Turns Elastic:

and as we carousel circles unceasingly
watch while the ripples decay in this rolling tide
in cascading the winds set the wheels in motion
and it's turning in the mist around me
rolling and turning into the mist around me

kissed by the water and held in your mother's arms
green rain tumble and roll in these fields
the shapes of the bodies that shake in the sun

while the blossoms all scream and it sleeps around me
the earth in these memories yields around me

in and out of focus, time turns elastic...
    time turns...

Phishin' Again! Media Industry and Music March 10, 2009
    Phish 2009 Hamptons.png

This past weekend's reunion shows were exactly what the doctor ordered for most of the tens-of-thousands of Phish fans throughout the world. It was a back to the basics style of playing, and showing the audience they were willing to play the music that the audience wanted to hear. Opening the weekend with Fluffhead, a song that was last played in September of 2000!

<>Critics will argue that there were mistakes, and that they weren't playing the extra-long jams (although a 22 minute Down with Disease should have satisfied those complainers). The band hadn't played a show in about 4½ years (8/15/04), and between that time they were off doing their own things (like solo projects), as well as keeping in touch. But it wasn't "business as usual" for a band that was almost constantlRead on...
